Notice Concerning Information Disclosure in Accordance
with the TCFD Framework

Hitachi Metals, Ltd. (hereinafter, "Hitachi Metals") hereby announces that it has disclosed information in accordance with the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (hereinafter, "TCFD")*, which require companies to analyze and disclose the climate change-related risks and opportunities of their businesses.
As countries around the world accelerate their efforts to combat climate change based on the Paris Agreement, the Japanese government announced in October 2020 a policy target to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, including carbon dioxide (CO2), to net zero by 2050. Against this background, companies are expected to take even more active steps toward realizing the shift to a decarbonized society.
The Hitachi Metals Group views the impact of climate change on its business as a top priority issue for management. We believe that enhanced disclosure of climate change-related information is essential for building a relationship of trust with our stakeholders. For this reason, in June 2021, we expressed our endorsement of the TCFD recommendations. Based on these recommendations, we will continue to enhance our disclosure of information on the impact of climate change on our business activities.
This is the first disclosure since Hitachi Metals expressed its support for the TCFD recommendations in June 2021. The contents will be updated as necessary. For details, please refer to the following web page:
- TCFD: Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures
The Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures launched by the Financial Stability Board (FSB) in 2015 in response to a request from the G20 concerning climate-related disclosure. The TCFD published its final report in June 2017, recommending that companies and others disclose items related to climate change-related risks and opportunities.
