Proterial Wins Award at 52nd Japan Copper Development Association Awards
Proterial, Ltd.
Proterial, Ltd. (hereinafter, “Proterial”) received the 52nd Japan Copper Development Association Award at a ceremony hosted by the Japan Copper Development Association in recognition of its contribution to the promotion of copper demand through Proterial's many years of manufacturing and selling quality electrode wire for wire electric discharge machining. The Japan Copper Development Association Award was established in fiscal 1974 to recognize notable achievements of people and organizations who contribute greatly to the development and promotion of the demand for copper. Encouraged by the reception of this historic award, Proterial will continue to contribute to the further development of the domestic copper industry.

Japan Copper Development Association Award
(at the commendation ceremony)

1. Recipient
Proterial, Ltd.
2. Reason for award
Proterial has contributed to the promotion of copper demand through the company's many years of manufacturing and selling quality electrode wire for wire electric discharge machining
3. Outline of the achievement for which the award was granted
Wire electric discharge machining is a machining method of using discharged electricity to machine surfaces to high degree of precision to make molds and components with complex geometry. It uses, thin metal wire (electrode wire) made of brass that mainly consists of copper and zinc as an electrode. High voltage is applied to generate an electric discharge between the electrode wire and the workpiece. The heat from the electric discharge melts the workpiece to machine it. Machining processes that use a stable electric discharge are becoming more and more important as precision requirements are increasing. At the same time, the quality of electrode wire must also increase.
Proterial has developed and manufactured electrode wire for over 40 years. In Proterial's manufacturing, the Company focuses on quality through measures such as the internal production of wire drawing dies which are important for the quality of electrode wire. That is why its wire has been used by many different processing machine manufacturers as the wire they recommended.
Proterial's electrode wire is used in a wide range of fields including the automotive, aerospace, healthcare, and semiconductor industries. It is used by Japanese and international customers in North America, Europe and Asia, including Japan. Going forward, Proterial aims to contribute to the increase in production efficiency by providing electrode wire that is ready for the increase in the size of molds and components as well as electrode wire that is suitable for high-precision machining.
